At Premier Orthopedics our Physical Therapy Departments offer a wide variety of traditional modalities and some that are not as common. These include:

Vasopneumatic compression / cold therapy combination - This is applied to injured, swollen joints to decrease swelling and inflammation as well as to reduce pain.

Laser Therapy - This painless and quick procedure is used to treat back, knee, and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendonitis as well as pain from arthritis or fibromyalgia and much more.

Iontophoresis - Is a method of introducing the ions of a medication (ordered by your physician) into the tissues in a needless fashion. The medicines are typically anti-inflammatories and / or analgesics to reduce pain.

Kinesiology Taping - Works by targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, alleviating pain and facilitating lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting effect allows for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas. Our staff is highly trained in the application of the tape.

We also offer Functional Capacity Evaluations.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

FCEs are needed to determine if an employee is able to resume working in a capacity "commensurate with his or her skills or abilities before the disability or medical condition was diagnosed".

An FCE is a series of tests and observations that can be used to determine fitness to return work following an extended period of medical leave. If an employee is unable to return to work, the FCE provides information on prognosis, and helps the physician with the treatment plan.

FCEs may be required by law for some employers before an employee can return to work, as well as by insurers before insurance payments can be made. FCEs are also used to determine eligibility for disability insurance, or pension eligibility in the event that an employee is permanently unable to return to work.
